This morning, Meredith Viera presented a smug little Today Show segment on the problem of teen pregnancy, immediately following video of Obama (product of a teen pregnancy himself) demanding that families of candidates be off limits.
Viera actually looked slightly embarrassed about it (wishful thinking, perhaps), and she should have been. The segment didn’t talk at all about Bristol Palin’s pregnancy until the very end, but mysteriously, uncaptioned pictures of her appeared at intervals as Viera interviewed two sex ed experts.
This was smarmy in the extreme. Is this really what you got into journalism for, Ms. Viera?
