Bush’s successes are what really annoy the left

The WSJ has it right, I think. After years of trying to Vietnamise the Iraq war, even to the point of declaring defeat several times, Bush has had the audacity to actually succeed there. Were there missteps? Sure. Should Rumsfeld have left earlier? Probably. But the fact is, we really DO have a nascent democracy in Iraq, a determination among the Iraqis to make it work, and an American presence that can ameliorate future issues in the region. The fact that the radical Islamists are so teed off about our presence is proof enough that we are doing the right thing.

George W. Bush tried to do the right thing, and in many, perhaps most, he succeeded. And that’s why the likes of Harry Reid and other shysters of the left detest him.
