Animal rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is apparently up in arms (or paws, or legs, or whatever) over the President’s brutal murder of an annoying housefly during a White House interview, according to ABC News.
The group sent the prez a more humane catch-and-release device for future fly episodes.
“We support compassion for the even the smallest animals,” says Bruce Friedrich, VP for Policy at PETA. “We support giving insects the benefit of the doubt.”
Friedrich says PETA supports “brushing flies away rather than killing them” and was disappointed that the President had gone ahead and squashed the pesky fly.
We rarely defend the President on much of anything, but we are firmly with him in the “kill the sucker” camp and feel PETA has entirely too much time on its hands/ paws/ claws/ flippers/ whatever.
