There’s that “we” stuff about the 1990s.
She is committed to not raising taxes on the middle class. So is Obama, but they’ll raise the taxes of their employers. Hillary doesn’t think this would hurt the economy, because she and Bill did it in the 90s.
Obama wants to raise the capital gains tax. Not because he thinks it makes sense (it doesn’t) but because of “fairness.” This is socialism under an incredibly thin guise. He wants to have investment in social programs, but ignores the fact that lower rates mean more income just for that purpose!
Hillary brags about the 90s, but the reason things were good then was because of the base laid by low taxes in the 80s.
While Clinton has a point about forcing the Iraqis’ hands, I really think if the situation demands it, she will drop this promise immediately.
“No one can predict what will happen” is the mantra she’ll fall back on when things have to change.
Obama probably doesn’t deserve this line of questioning. Symbolism is important, but not as important as substance.
The Bosnia story is one that Hill isn’t going to be able to shake. For her to write this in her book and repeat it several times and then claim she wasn’t as accurate as “in the past” is laughable.
But then Obama lets her off the hook by changing the subject.
Unfortunately, her gaffes and innacuracies are part of a pattern.
Obama’s excuses for not getting away from Wright don’t pass the sniff test, unfortunately. I am sure he sees it as a political liability, but dealing in platitudes about how we have to “move beyond” this issue isn’t cutting it.
Hillary is the one being truthful here about her personal reactions. Obama can’t really get away saying he didn’t know about any of these statements. There’s to much evidence to the contrary.
So, he changes the subject.
I appears they’ve decided not to go for the throat. Hillary in particular probably can’t afford to look like she’s putting herself above party. Even though she’d like to.
Obama is doing about as well with this as he can on this point. Why he’s been saddled with this purposeful misunderstanding of his words is unfortunate.
AND NOW, Hillary drags out a tenuous personal connection. The drumbeat about how bad Bush is, which Hillary keeps bringing into her conversation.
Hillary also dodged the question of whether or not she believes Obama can win. Pretty much changing the subject. When pressed, she says emphatically O can win. Kind of a switch, if her reported conversation with Bill Richardson is fact.
Why is the press pushing the a Clinton/Obama Ticket?
